10 Cars That Make Great Hot Rods

Old Volkswagen Beetle

Although they don’t make this model anymore, there are so many people who simply adore the old Beetle. Many still drive old beetles and keep them in perfect condition. For those who love hot rods, the old beetle could be the right choice. It is cheap to buy and maintain, they are available in almost every part of the world. It is not a big car, but you can be very creative with it and make a great hot rod out of it.

Lincoln Zephyr

Some call it the „sexy beast“, but this car is more than just that. In fact, this model is quite rare, which makes it pricey, of course. Although it is possible to make a replica, it can be quite difficult to make it look good enough, when compared to the original. Once you see it or take a ride in it, you will never be able to forget it. Hot rod fans love this model and say it is perfect for all kinds of moderation.

1951 Chevy 3100 Pick Up

Some pick ups make great hot rods, because they have enough space for a big engine and everything you need to make a powerful machine. 1951 Chevy 3100 Pick Up is not too elegant, but it still looks good. With the right color, you can even get a fancy-looking vehicle.

1929 Ford Model T

This is one of the most popular US cars. It used to be a No 1 selling car in the United States and it probably still holds the record. It is famous as a hot rod as well. Of course, the original is very expensive, but luckily you can get a good replica for a reasonable price.

1933 Ford Coupe

The great thing about this one is that you buy the kit and build your own hot rod! You are free to design it anyway you like. Of course, this process will take money, hours, days, weeks, months… but in the end, you will be very, very happy with it.

1967 Chevrolet Corvette C2

This sports car, also known as Sting Ray, can be just what you’re looking for, if you want a great hot rod. It is beautiful, and doesn’t even need modifications, but if you decide to modify it, it can look even better. The original engine was quite powerful – 400 hp, but it might be hard to find.

1967 Ford Mustang Fastback

Thanks to the movie „Gone is 60 seconds“ with Nicolas Cage and Angelina Jolie, this car is now even more famous than the first, ‘real’ Eleanor. Yes, Eleanor was a 1971 Ford Mustang Sportsroof and it was one of the ‘stars’ of the 1974 movie „Gone in 60 Seconds“. However, both Eleanors are beautiful and powerful cars that can make perfect hot rods.

1967 Dodge Charger

This model seems much better than its predecessors. One of the improvements was a vinyl roof, and the cabin had more space because they removed the full length console and brought back the old standard console. Another great improvement was that it could accommodate three people in the front seats. A beautiful and interesting model that can be a wonderful hot rod.

1969 Dodge Charger

This is another TV star, also known as the General Lee from „The Dukes of Hazzard“. Compared to the previous models, the 1969 model came with some great additions and they also made the special edition line. 1969 Dodge Charger also had a sunroof version. Whichever you choose – sunroof or regular, you can make a great hot rod out of it.

1972 Demon 340

This model replaced the Swinger 340. The most wanted Demons are certainly the ones with a V8 engine. They are not very common, so they are pricey. Even non-V8 demons have kept their value and are still popular with the collectors. This car is beautiful as it is, but you can turn it into a magnificent hot rod.
