Lamborghini’s Huracán LP 610-4 Spyder is 201mph of roofless glee

Lamborghini’s Huracán LP 610-4 Spyder is 201mph of roofless glee
Lamborghini has chopped the top off its LP 610-4 supercar, creating the audacious Huracán LP 610-4 Spyder for those who demand 610 HP and the wind in their hair. Revealed at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2015 today, the new convertible features a spanking new electrohydraulic, lightweight soft top roof which can drop in 17 seconds, and is paired with a retractable rear window.

Boosting both aerodynamics and aesthetics are two movable fins, which start at the seatbacks and then flow back across the roof line to the rear. They rise up from the folding roof casing, which hides the soft top when down while still keeping the center of gravity the same.

A mixture of aluminum and carbon fiber for the chassis and body keep the mass down, and the Spyder has a dry weight of 3,399 lbs. Torsional stiffness is up 40-percent versus the Gallardo convertible the car replaces, too.

Of course this wouldn't be a Lamborghini without a ridiculous engine, and the Huracán LP 610-4 Spyder has just the right soundtrack, too. Its hefty 5.2-liter V10 revs all the way to 8,700 rpm, delivering 610 hp at 8,250 rpm and 413 lb-ft of torque at 6,500 rpm

Altogether, that adds up to a 201 mph top speed, with a 0-62 mph time of 3.4 seconds. In fact, it only takes 10.2 seconds to reach 124 mph, snapping through the seven ratios of Lamborghini's dual-clutch gearbox.

LDS (Lamborghini Dynamic Steering) is an option, as is magneto-rheological damper control, while carbon-ceramic brakes for the 20-inch Giano wheels are standard fit, happily.

nside, there's plenty of Alcantara and nappa leather, along with a 12.3-inch display for engine info, navigation, and multimedia. All of the key controls are on the wheel, aside from the roof/rear window controls and the covered starter button, which are on the center console.

Lamborghini expects the Huracán LP 610-4 Spyder to begin arriving on customers' driveways from Spring 2016, priced at 186,450 Euros + taxes ($208k).
